Sexuality, sexual orientation and gender diversity
Gender Diversity & Intersex Centre of Expertise
Seta´s special unit Gender Diversity & Intersex Centre of Expertise offers its services to all trans and intersex people as well as their close ones. Services are available in Finnish and English of with customers own interperter. Centre offers face-to-face counselling and support via email, chat and phone. All services are confidential and free of charge.
We are located at Seta’s office at Merihaka, Helsinki (Haapaniemenkatu 7–9 B, floor 7). There is a dressing room at the office where it is possible to change and do your make up. The space is available during peer group nights.
The national helpline Sinuiksi
Sinuiksi helpline offers support for people who are questioning or want to talk about their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. You can talk to us about minority stress, your identity, coming out process (closet anxiety) and social pressure. You can contact Sinuiksi by Email at neuvontapalvelu@sinuiksi.fi or call +358 44 300 2355. The helpline workers are professionals specialized in sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
Rainbow Families ry (Sateenkaariperheet ry) is the association for lesbian, gay, bisexual, intersex and trans parents and their children in Finland. You can contact them with questions regarding family matters or to seek advice by email at info@sateenkaariperheet.fi.
Helsinki Pride Community ‘s “Together with Pride” work offers professional support and peer support groups and advocates for the rights of LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and people with refugee backgrounds. They offer individual meetings and host group activities. If you want to join, please contact us. Trasek is a national organization for trans and intersex people. Trasek specializes in human rights issues and helps trans and intersex people with problems in gender related bureaucratic issues and the medical care system. It also offers free and confidential support with other related issues. Trasek also hosts social gatherings – ask us for details! Email: neuvonta@trasek.fi.
Sexpo
Sexpo is able to provide counselling in matters of sexuality, relationships and sexual rights to asylum seekers, but also to volunteers that work with asylum seekers. We provide counselling face to face at our office – book your appointment here.
Oulu SETA ryis located at Oulu. The assosiation has few volunteers who give social support to all LGBTQIA+ people, especially to refugees. Voluteers can meet you confidentially, escort you to different events, hobbies and places and stand by you when you meet authorities etc. Ask for more about volunteer support at tukihenkilot@oulunseta.fi.

Other service
MIELI Menetal Health Finland offers help and mental health support to people in difficult life situations and crises. Their Crisis Helpline allows you to discuss your thoughts, feelings and situation in life with a crisis worker or a trained volunteer. The Crisis Helpline offers help in Arabic and English via telephone 09 2525 0113 and WhatsApp +358 40 195 8202. You can call us anonymously and confidentially.
Finnish Immigration Service (Migri)
Migri is an agency under the Ministry of the Interior that processes matters related to immigration, residence, refugee issues and Finnish citizenship and makes decisions concerning them.
Refugee Advice Center (Pakolaisneuvonta)
The Finnish Refugee Advice Centre provides legal couselling for asylum seekers, refugees and other immigrants in Finland. It is also an independent, non-governmental organization promoting the rights of asylum seekers and refugees in Finland and following the asylum policy of the European Union.
